Default Could someone please measure the Headlight Leveling Sensor linkage and arm?

On my car, the front headlight leveling sensor is broken. It lost both the sway bar link looking part, and the plastic arm. Could anyone who has factory HIDs on their car, possibly 2003 - 2006 MY, do me the favor of taking measurements of the parts I'm missing? I will be using rose joints to replace the missing parts.

On the image below I drew arrows at the parts of which I need the length measured. I think a measurement from hole to hole, and overall length of each arm should do it. I have not yet checked to see if I also need to repair the rear sensor.

Yes if your car came with factory HIDs. There are two sensors. One of them located at the left front suspension from the control arm to the frame, and the other at the rear started to the rear control arm.

Daniel IIRC some of the rear linkage is the same so you can refer to it on the drivers side rear.

I suspect I'm also missing the rear linkage. I didn't see it last night when I glanced under the car.

I confirmed I am also missing the entire rear sensor. Could someone please measure the length of theirs plastic and metal linkages of the front sensor? I will deal with the rear sensor later.

I also lost my rear HID link and had to make one from the following items purchased from a well known auction site:-

M4 Female Rod End, Right Hand Thread, Rose Bearing Link (MMCFRM4)

M4 Male Rod End, Right Hand Thread, Rose Bearing Link (MMCMRM4)

Ideally, they should be Stainless Steel or Carbon Steel with protective coating for corrosion resistance.

Works a treat :-)

Rothwell,
Just an observation.. Your link is not in the correct position. The plastic arm should be almost parallel to the road and the link should be vertical. So your sensor is currently 90 Degrees out of position. See image of correct orientation.

Hi guys

Thanks for the quick response, as I had no idea what the sensor was for, seeing the dimensions off the xor, its odd as the link between the ball joints on my 2005 XK8 S are 34mm, and mine have fallen to bits, but after hours of searching I found SGS do a ball joint that will work, it comes out at 36mm, but I think I can shave a little off each coupling, as I am unable to find the original jaguar part.
Once again many thanks for your speedy response.
Regards
Bob

Paul1940,
The original rear HID link is 35mm long between ball Centers.
The rear Sensor Arm is 50mm long between Centers (same as the front sensor).
If you have lost the rear link, then it can be replaced using options described in posts #8 and #11. See pics
