Default Help!

After only having my car for a month and just getting use to it I need advise. When I go above 100 I get a burnt hair kind of smell, wondering if anyone has had this as burning smells aren't good. Any advise greatly accepted. Guy.

I would check out the wiring while you are installing a very good radar detector.

What kind of shape are the tires in? If it is a low mileage car they may have aged out even if there is plenty of tread left. There is a coded date on the sidewall you can check to see how old they really are.

Also could be something rubbing as the car "sits" down at speed. Check for unusual wear in the wheel wells as the front ends of these cars love to sag with age. You don't mention model year, so just a guess here.

He's on the other side of the pond so I assume he's talking about kph not mph, at any rate a burnt hair smell is strange, particularly at speed as the wind would move any smell away from the car. Has to be from the front, could you have a deceased animal in the engine compartment?

Guess I did miss that. And it would be two ponds from Maui, right?

Really curious as to what the cause of this turns out to be.

My guess is catalytic converter smell. Kind of like rotten eggs. Normal with the old style converter. Happens now and again with my 03.

Thanks for all the good ideas. To let you know jag#4 it's the 2004 xkr v8 😊. The smell isn't from the outside as loxmth suggested it could be from the cats it's more from the air vents so jandreu could be right lmao. I've had a good look around the engine bay and no sights of scorching or burnt plasticky smell around.
The tyres and wheel arches look fine so I'm a bit stumped. Think it's off to the jag specialists in derby elite jaguar just off sir frank whittle way see if they have any idea's.
I'll put on here what I find out so it can be passed on to anyone else who gets this strange smell fingers crossed its a cheap fix. Nd thank you to Norris for the warm welcome. Guy
