Default Help with 1997 XK8 Removing the Header rail

I am new to the board and can not find this in anywhere. I am ready to remove the original hydrolic fluid in my early 97 conv and replace with Pentocin CHF 11S.

Does any one have a simple PFD of Remove the header rail upper trim panel so I can bleed the lines and finish the job?

I can't seem to pull it down from JITS.

Any help would be apreciated.

Brian,

I'm a tin roof owner so have never needed to get into soft top hydraulics.

You'll get a better response to this question if you post it directly on the XK8/XKR 1996-2006 section. In the meantime, there's some useful threads in the XK8/XKR FAQ's which may provide the answer. Check this one:

Convertible top latch hydraulic problem - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

The last post in the thread has a link to member Gus' homepage where he has loads of info on the hydraulics (and plenty more besides).

Brian, Rev Sam made a video of recovering the headliner, obviously this covers the removal and refitting!
Here it is.

Default Header panel removal

If you are attempting to remove the header panel above the windshield to access the latch assembly and hydraulic lines, there are four screws holding the panel; two are easily accessible near the center of the panel. Two add'l screws are are at the top of each "A" pillar well hidden by the rubber weatherstripping. Once the panel is removed, you will be able to access the two lines to the latch mechanism.

JTIS (Jag manual) says system is self bleeding. there are no bleeders.

Hello,
here is some info on your quest. This info is courtesy of White XKR as I asked him the same question a week ago.
Here is the link for that thread. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-cloth-73764/

To remove the header, remove the A-pillars, then disconnect the battery. Pull down and unplug the ceiling console, then all the visor screws and brackets.
Biggest caution is on re-installation: do not get the visor light wires pinched under a screw or clip (it is easy to do). There is a design fault in the Body Processor Module and this particular short can cause complete module failure rather than a fuse blowing like it should.
