So my car was throwing all sorts of sensor warnings including low brake fluid, i went to check my battery and saw that the ground strap was loose on the clamp end so I took it out it to put in another when the darn stud broke off while I was tightening in the new strap, which is very strange cause I was using a mini ratchet with hardly any pressure. What can I do now? Does any one know if It needs to be secured in that exact spot? or can I ground it on another one of the nearby studs. If I need to use that spot how do I get the stud out, do I need to remove the muffler to reach the other side? Thanks, I cant believe how even the simplest things on this car turn out to be an ordeal. Here is a pic of the snapped stud.

 

It should not be any problem at all grounding to another nearby stud...just grind off the paint if necessary.

 

I did a secondary ground and went from the battery to the bumper connector.

It is under rear bumper directly under tail light passenger or right side.

Main thing is to have a clean connection to the chassis. Means grinding or sanding to get fresh metal, no paint, no rust.

also it is preferabe to use new clean cable , (very good idea), try to use #2 or zero gauge cable.(VERY THICK) AND SHIELDED WITH RUBBER INSULATION ON OUTSIDE use a strong crimped end to the cable. Probably best to buy from auto store although a good one is not cheap.

Thanks for the help, So then adding the new strap onto this stud (pictured) would provide an adequate enough ground?

 

Jaguar seem to have an obsession about ground connections are there are warnings in driver documentation and JTIS about adding accessories. However, I'm sure this is more a concern over compromising surface corrosion protection by cleaning back to metal than any considerations of electrical safety. Using an existing stud as you propose should be perfectly satisfactory.
