Default How do you clean a XK8 headliner convertible ??

So I’ve a 2004 XK8 and the headliner has been developing that rust looking color especially at rear window. Any suggestions on how and what to use to clean?

Appreciate any advice.

thanks

Some owners have reported excellent results by using brake cleaner spray and a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush....

Am I seeing correctly that your XK8 has only 9,000 miles on the odometer?

Isopropyl alcohol will also work. No matter what you use though, it will come back in fairly short order because the rust colored stain is powder from the deteriorated foam behind the fabric. Replacement is the only long term solution.

Thanks. It did have 9k. It’s now pushing 15k miles. Have had car for about 7 years and it’s not really used much

Gently vacuum the ever-loving hell out of it. If some spots still look weird use a microfiber cloth and clean water. Repeat the extended vacuuming every few months. After a year or 4 it will gradually drastically diminish or stop happening altogether as you eventually vacuum out nearly all of the crumbled foam dust; no need to replace in most cases.
