Hi Rev

I want to replace my header cover and you had a video on how to to this, but it is not on your videos any more. Is the video available some where else as it would be helpful. Your other videos are great, thanks.

Sam are you going to put the windshield headliner video back on? I watched it once a few months ago and was thinking about finally doing it but the video was not available. (shut down by user) All your other videos are great and I have done a lot of the upgrades by following your helpful videos

Sam sold his XK8 a few months ago and rarely comes around the Jaguar forum these days....

The YouTube links are still alive and well (as I hope Rev. Sam is). Here's the link to the A pillar procedure again just in case.

Oops! Checked the wrong link. The header link does seem to be removed.

WhiteXKR did post this walk thru on another link (really need to learn how to get forum links in my replies).

from WhiteXKR:
To remove the header, remove the A-pillars, then disconnect the battery. Pull down and unplug the ceiling console, then all the visor screws and brackets.
Biggest caution is on re-installation: do not get the visor light wires pinched under a screw or clip (it is easy to do). There is a design fault in the Body Processor Module and this particular short can cause complete module failure rather than a fuse blowing like it should.

Automotive sunvisors recovered to like new conditions : WLS Headliners. recovers sunvisors. I have no idea as to the quality of their work though.

Default A Pillar remove, wash, and replace

Attached are my before and after pictures of my 2001 XK8 A-Pillars (like Great-Grandma's legs vs... well, someone much younger with nicer legs than Great-Grandma). My pillars were clean, just wrinkled. I took the material off, brushed the crumbling foam away from the cloth and the pillar (even a bit of sandpaper on blobs of foam near edges of pillar), then washed cloth in hot water and laundry soap by hand to get the foam crud off. Rinsed it very well. Glue wont stick to the surfactants in the soap! Laid the cloth out to dry overnight. . Did not replace the foam and used 3M headliner spray glue on both the fabric and the particle board and worked from the center out to edges. Super easy since everything was pre-cut. Still matched perfectly since mine were clean to start. I like the firmer backing on the pillars now- not a fan of that foam. I think it looks really good. If washing failed I knew what to do and where to get more material thanks to everyone here before me.

Only key for me was pulling "diagonal" by hand to get pillars out of their (3) clips. IE pull driver's side pillar from top of pillar toward passenger seat. Once clear of the clips gently pull it parallel to the door window so bottom part slips by dash. The bottom can hang up between dash and crack if you try to pull the whole piece out of there 'diagonally". Pretty rewarding for an hours work and $15 of glue!

Wow, looks great! I hope you like grandma's new suitors!

It was not practical for me though, because my fabric was beginning to rip in the corners.

WXKR: I saw in your old post that you considered it. That helped me to think of more solutions than just the "replace" everything one. Plus I have not read about anyone trying to wash theirs so I thought I would see if the material would handle it. All indications are that everything is staying together nicely...time will tell.
