what I do, and I’m all thumbs, is just first spray the area with silicone spray liberally . Then I make a tool by cutting out the center tines of a big fork.

Press the two remaining tines of the fork against opposite sides of the black release part . You don’t have to press anything around the complete circumference of it, just the two sides. It’s not as difficult as you think.

Nor can I figure out why they used this connector this one time on the car. Especially since the hard plastic vacuum line on other side of the elbow that goes to the brake booster)is a connector used in other parts of the engine (as seen in pic above). Just seems best to switch to something more standard.

So you're saying you do this from the outside of the elbow and pry the black plastic insert out? I guess it comes out easy enough and undamaged because of the silicone spray? Well that would be good.

Still don't know why they used this connection scheme there instead of using the more standard one elsewhere on the car, including the on the opposite side that goes to the brake booster. I picture somewhere there is a Jaguar/Ford engineer grinning as he thought this up.

You push inward on the insert and then you pull out the tube that’s going into it.

the black insert doesn’t need to be removed.

I modified it so never have to worry about this silly brass/plastic fitting again. Drilled and tapped for this barb fitting, now a piece of hose connects it easily w/o leaks.
Was amazed how dirty the throttle body was so gave it a very good cleaning. Car passed smoke test and purrs like a kitten now.

Good to know what that fitting was called. Given how bad it was leaking per my smoke test, It's fine for RO filter water lines but I don't think that was a good choice in this high heat area. Glad it's gone from mine.

Still don't know why they didn't just use a Norma PLAST fitting like on the other side (brake booster vacuum line), PCV fittings, etc.
