Default Humming/whistling at idle

Hi all,

My car has started making an intermittent humming or whistling noise at idle (in park). It does not happen right on startup, but rather after the car has been running for a couple of minutes. It then comes and goes intermittently for about 30 seconds to a minute, and then goes away and doesn't come back. I'm at a loss.

It's not a squeal or squeak; definitely more of a hum. Maybe sounds like air escaping or rushing in somewhere?

Some additional info:
- The car is off the road for the winter - this has happened on my last couple of weekly visits to run it. It is in a heated garage, but it's still fairly chilly in there. Not below freezing though.
- I know that my EVAP system needs a look - I get the P0455 code often on a long drive. Not sure if this could be related, though I have been getting that for a while and this is new.
- The heater/AC is NOT on when the noise happens.
- The car is not running rough or, as far as I can tell, suffering any other ill effects.

Thanks in advance for any help!

There are a lot of possibilities. When it's making the noise get under the hood and see if you can locate the general area. Try removing the serpentine belt to eliminate the idlers, water pump, alternator, but don't run very long or it will overheat. A sound that occurs at start up and goes away could be the secondary air pump.
