I know we are all hoping that our cars will increase in value, but we did not know it would be this fast!!

seems to me they are still flat. I bought my 97 5 years ago for like 11.5 and bought my 03 this year for 11.5. I don't know if they will ever go up high, time will tell. But I do feel the 97-06 model run is the best one since the orig. They are timeless in their looks. I know I will be taking care of my 03. I will be taking it to cruise in's as there are NEVER any at them. Hell i took my Chevelle to a car show this weekend and the freaking Corvette class was classy stupid, guys with virtually NEW vettes winning stuff. Well **** if it is new how does one judge it>??????? That has to come down to personal taste. Well I will throw down with my Jag and win some hardware.

That guy at ebay might be on to something in terms of market manipulation and with all of the attention now that Jaguar is finally getting with the clever F-type commercials, maybe now is the time to be doing it. So what we all do is start advertising our XK's for ridiculous high prices thus "getting the word out" that these have suddenly moved into "highly sought after/collectible" status. It is all perception by the masses just like pet rocks, cabbage patch kids, and beanie babies.

I used to have a green XJ-S convertible and was delighted when Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson were pictured in one, I think I figured out it was a 6-cylinder. Don't know if it helped the value of the car, but I enjoyed knowing we had the same taste in cars.

There are at least 4 or 5 X100 models on ebay at prices listed higher than 2007-2008 models. While these owners may be optimistic, the fact that there are more than just one or two lunatics signals there may be something to it.
Now that I own both, believe me, I understand the lure of these great cars. While the 2010 has numerous upgrades, it doesn't ride as well and is a "rattletrap." Don't even ask about the leather dash "shrinkage" problem which almost costs as much to replace as buying a nice XK8.

We got some front page XKR promotion in Western NY. Marcell Dareus was arrested on multiple charges on a busy main road near he Stadium. He was drag racing another player with his 2010 Xkr, crossed two oncoming lanes and wrapped it around a tree.

This thread got me wandering a little, so I looked up my 05MY and found out only 1687 convertibles were produced, production was stopped on May 27, 2005. My car has a March 2004 production date. I like these numbers and optimistic speaking this may help its overall value, one day. On the down side I just checked KBB and an excellent shape 05MY is valued at 15K with options it has with 113K miles. My son has my old 88 XJ40 VDP in storage for a hopeful restoration one day but at almost 25 years old I'm sure its value is not increasing even if it would be in great shape. We both loved the car and being a pre Ford ownership makes it at least a little special to us but a bear to work on and keep running. Well maintained Jaguars turn heads no matter what the year. One of the joys of ownership.

A good friend of mine who was a collector of Corvettes once told me that he read that, as a general rule, the low point of a cars value was 14 years old. After that the age is not as important as overall condition of the car. So have the 1997 - 2000 value leveled off where a clean 2006 still worth more than a 2004 in the same condition? How long do you think it will take for the XK8 to climb back to its original price of $80,000+ I'm 62, it better hurry.
