I might need an intervention
The tan interior reeled you in. Same happened to me.
You are in a great position to comment about the positives and negatives of each side by side.
XK8 variable valve timing makes higher revs nicer sounding. Plus that ZF 6 speed downshifts much faster than the MB 5 speed auto in the earlier XKR.
XKR low end pull makes 0-50 MPH more exciting. Keep up with the biggest engine Dodge Challenger (6.2 I think)? Very doable (based on experience).
Thanks for indulging vicarious living !

Couldn't you have made one a convertible? Like I didi? Now I am going to that Jaguar USA private event at the L.A. Convention Center tomorrow (L.A. Car Show begins) and Jaguar is sending the four of us who were chosen from the forum to attend the event home with a brand new F-type to use for 4 days (with no restrictions). I already have three Jags (among so many other cars). I'm afraid, really afraid of what I might do.
You could take a second on the house LOL.
BTW, the previous owner put in aftermarket HID lights in Frack (XK8) and just set the bulbs in the sockets. Can you say square peg in a round hole. Hopefully the did break anything and these shenanigans can be fixed.
Pics to follow of course.

I hope to have the same problem as you have. My wife has been shopping for my "next Jag," meaning an '03-'05 XKR. I think she wants to take my XK8 for herself and knows there is only one way that is happening. We bought her an Audi A6 earlier this year for a commuter and it is a nice car, it just has no soul. She makes the comment "I like the roar that it (the Audi) makes." "Roar?" "Well your car sounds like it wants to kill someone, I like that even better." We are a bit off from actually bringing home another Jag (I'm replacing my winter beater first) but it is nice to know that she is the one look, and not me prodding
