Default Idea for replacing plastic line from expansion tank to thermostat housing

Have read that this line becomes quite brittle over time and many have broken it off at the ends when trying to disconnect it. I know some members have replaced it with different rubber hoses and clamps but, the heat on top of the motor is pretty harsh environment.

Was thinking 3/8" brass or copper tubing might be a better alternative. Could be used with the compression fittings below (they are transmission). Basically would create the same as original with small hose sections making the connections at the ends. Could always paint it black too.

Being a plumbers helper many years ago as well as a remodeling contractor for many years this is just how my mind works. Just a thought.

Cheers!

Andrew

I did that on my '04 vert a few years ago. I polished the copper tubing and it looked great.

Great substitutes, but the original equipment isn't expensive and the hose fits in the clip like it's supposed to. Found it on Amazon. Search for: OES Genuine Expansion Tank Hose for select Jaguar XK8/XKR models.
