Unhappy Ideas?

2001 XKR with 122K miles. In pristine condition...or so I thought! Changed the oil and filter using Royal Purple 10W-30 and a Wix filter. Ensured the correct amount of oil ect. Test drove it, hitting boost a couple times. Car was smoking through the R wheel well and R hood. We determined it was blowby through the air box. I had about 100 miles on the vehicle after purchase and prior to oil change and did not experience this problem. Driving/operating below SC boost does not seem to manifest this extreme reaction. I plan to check for oil separator at R cam cover and clogged orifice at L cam cover. Any ideas on what else would cause this condition so suddenly or could it have been an existing problem waiting to happen...the dealer( independent) refuses any repairs as it was purchased "as is" even though the problem occurred less than 24 hours after purchase.

How did you determine that it's a blow-by problem?

Unless the dealer had some kind of additive in the oil to stop it smoking, I think you have some other issue.

Since it is coming from the engine area vs. the tailpipe, I would start checking for leaks or spilled oil first. Sometimes it is the simple things and you did just change the oil.

Also, are you sure it is oil and not coolant? The hoses on the cooling systems in these cars are bad about leakage. Smell should be a good indicator.

You should check the SC oil, See what it looks like and perhaps replace it. While advertised as 'for life' and never needs changing most people do and with your miles I'd check it out. If it only occurs on boost sounds like oils getting sprayed into intake? I'm not a expert but others might chime in.
