Default The infamous no start

Well I was hit with the infamous no start this week and was diligent in identifying the cause. I first thought it was the electrical issue but it was fuel. I will provide additional information when it comes up. This is what has taken place so far.

Monday – car driven home all ok. About 30 – 45min after parking it I attempted to move it. It started and ran for only a few moments and then stalled (no codes). Three attempts to start with no success. Attached a fuel pressure gauge 31+lbs and it started (No codes)!?

Tuesday– Attempted to get the car to do it again no dice until around 3pm. I idled the car for a few moments and took it out for a run. Had my computer attached and noticed the eng temp was up to 204F and the fuel pressure went from 31psi to as the computer indicated -7 on bank #1 & -4 on bank #2. The air intake was 118F when the car stalled. Installed the fuel pressure gauge and had less than 5psi and it would not start and the pump was not working. Today’s temperature was 96F.

Wednesday – went out in the morning (no start) and checked the fuel pressure and had none.
I then check all electrical connections to fuse panels, replaced the relay and fuse and all was OK! I am now having the pump and filter replaced.

Hey Gus,
I hope that it turns out to be something minor and relatively inexpensive to fix. If not, at least we'll have a good write-up for future generations!

Gus, what 'computer' did you use to monitor fuel pressure live? just curious, as others may also wonder. I thought the manual shrader valve was the only way. Educate me professor.

Matt,
I did use a pressure gauge but as I was driving I used my computer version OBD reader and it can monitor the status of the cars operation. That is where I got the eng temp and fuel pressures. So to answer your question I used a gauge on the manifold shrader valve and the computer when I was driving.
