Default Intake manifold

concerning my 1997 XK8, been looking for a vacuum leak that can be heard when blipping the pedal. Have got the manifold off. all the gaskets look to be allright a bit hard from age. Does anybody know if the round plastic blank at the front of the manifold come off. looks like it might also have a oring sealing it.
I just wish it was the part load hose but not in this case.

Is there a good parts list that would show the top part of the engine? looking to change out the two heater hoses that rest under the manifold while I can get to them. also need the fuel rail o rings both ends and the egr valve to intake elbow.

Thanks

The Jaguar Parts List doesn't show the kind of detail you're after on the manifold.

The Jaguar 'Technical Guide to the AJ-V8 Engine and 5HP24 Transmission' ref JJM 10 15 15/70 published August 1996 has better illustrations and may help. If you can't find it on the forum, I can send you a copy.

I've taken hundreds of these jags apart and never had a leak on the "blank" in front of the manifold :/

Get all three PDF parts files from the xk8-xkr FAQ thread. It has a ton of exploded parts diagrams that have been useful to me.

Default Leak in manifold

OK, looking at putting it all together, noticed that egr gasket between the the EGR valve and the inlet elbow is black and sooty and the other side is green gasket materail coloured.

Is this normal???, not so sure of the sooty deposits.

Does the EGR Vv come apart for cleaning? as looking into the hole of the body of the Vv it is black yucky.

Thanks

I didn't take mine apart, but I did use lots of throttle body cleaner on the little valve part. Let it soak while its closed, it'll loosen it up, then wipe as much out as you can.

My metal gaskets were not sooty, that surely is signs of carbon from the gasket leaking. The green is just the corrosion on the metal, which appeared copper.

The gasket that came out of mine between the EGR Vv and the TB elbow is a reinforced paper gasket, thats why I was asking as I have only seen metal gaskets for sale. The parts list does not say what material it is. I have not removed the EGR Vv from the pipe that comes off the exhaust pipe, I could understand that one being metal.

I am now thinking thats where my leak is. As one side of the gasket was sooty on the sealing face. I shall have to order the gasket and see what shows.
