Default Interior Roof Cleaning From Leaky Top

After our last rain, it appears to have leaked through my fabric convertible top and the inside got a little wet and discoloured.
Any suggestions on how to clean it? It's dry now. Thanks.

Side note: I am waterproofing it today and keeping up on it so this won't happen again. I was surprised since my Mini did not require waterproofing.

Your XK8 should not require waterproofing although may people do it. The top has a rubber liner under the cloth. If you got a leak in the top you have a pin hole.

try Stoner Foaming Carpet Cleaner and a very clean, soft, dampened sponge.

One of our members discovered that brake cleaner fluid works wonders. Wish I could remember his name to give credit.

Yes, I too doubted this. It seems so caustic, but it is not. I have done it several times for tough stains and it works well.

BTW, don't forget that any of the stains you see from this incident are water soluble, that rainwater brought them in.

For real, try plain old distilled water and a good cloth rag. Once I left my roof open in a downpour. Closed it, forgot about it and went for a ride house later. Drip drip on my head - I thought my roof leaked! Took a nearby rag and started to sop up moisture above me. Just as I marveled that all those "stains" came out with the rag, I remembered this was just water from the earlier downpour. Bottom line - plain old water works too.
