hi guys,

i have a little problem with an ipod connected to the original alpine head unit in my 2003 xk8 with standard sound system and i'm sure that someone here knows the solution.

i adapted the the butcher your cd player method, but avoid routing a cable back from the cd player to the head unit. therefore i converted a short cable with male and female ai- net plug and sliced the ipod to ai-net in. this cable is connected to alpine aux on one hand and to the cable which leads to the cd player on the other hand. i did not put a switch or relais between because there is no need to operate the player simoultaneasly.

so far so good. everything works fine, radio display shows no magazin but tunes from the ipod were played and ipod will be charged.

the trouble is, it just works once. ever changed to radio mode there is no way back to cd/ipod, no reaction on pushing the cd button.

any ideas will be appreciated.

Do you have the same reaction if you have a CD in the magazine?

 

yes, same reaction. when the issue showed up first i read some regarding threads and i found the magazine theme. i tried the various alternatives with no solution.

 

update:

found out that everything works perfect as long as ignition has not been turned off.

head unit shut down doesn´t matter, once the ignition were off switching from radio mode to cd/ipod isn´t possible anymore.

constant power supply for the head unit is no solution because of usual battery cut off while standing in the garage for some days.

wondering if anbody of you guys with ipod/iphone in the car has faced this issue?
