We did Black forest/ Suisse/Lichtenthing/ Belgie/ Autriche/ Lux'/ France last year in my 04, Fantastic.

 

They are awesome for touring, even with the dog on the back seats, we had room for 3 weeks clutter. I kind of wish I'd gone for an XKR now, but that's just me, enough is never enough.
My reason for crossing the Alps is because of many years of family holidays in Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany resulting in soaked sleeping bags and a steamed up car. I have to have assurances that the sun will shine and the temperature will reach at least into the 30's
