Default Jaguar SS 100 sighted

After all the work I've done over the last few weeks my wife and I took my 2004 out for a spin. As we pulled off of Edger road here in Webster Groves the car to the right of us was an SS Jaguar. Ran down Lockwood together for about a mile. What a sight. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful car.

I saw a real SS100 a few years ago, an absolutely gorgeous car.

Here is more info on the predecessor to the XKs: Jaguar SS100 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maybe a kit car? I thought all the real ones were museum pieces or trailer queens. If real, it's a seven figure car. Even some of the better replicas go for $100k.

Oh my. That's a sighting if it was indeed- I guess I could have searched. Never heard of them before.

Was also reminded this evening of this gorgeous car in relation, found between the two.

SS 100: 308 cars produced from 1936 to 1939:

3.5 litre OHC which replaced the 2.6 litre SS 90 and was the first genuine 100 mph Jaguar.

There is a company near me which makes them. They are reproductions, not kit cars:
Suffolk Jaguar SS100 and C-type

Here's an original local car, belongs to one of the local club member. The car always travels inside all-enclosed trailer to show grounds.

I remember my father having a 100 in the early 50s I was just a kid but it still stands out ,those massive chrome headlights and long black hood (bonnet) I remember it broke down on the rd to Blackpool I think it was a faulty coil ,It was a coup with the coup part of the body covered with some kind of black canvas ,It had two bucket seats in the front and a very small bench seat in the back. I have never seen one like it since.I think it was this car that set me off on my love affair to owning lots of jags in my life. Thank you for bringing back those memory.s. If only he had known what it would have been worth now .
has any one seen a photo of one (coup) ?? Bernie

Suffolk Jaguar not only make replicas, they also have a genuine 1937 car for sale. They do not advertise the price!

Suffolk SS100

If you Google Jaguar SS100 Coupe you will find a variety of body styles.

Wow I didn't realize quite how valuable the SS100s have gotten! There's one here in SL, in fantastic shape but it's no trailer queen, the owners believe in using their cars and they drive this thing rain or shine!

Good for them, Jags love to be driven. Not driving a Jaguar car is equivalent to caging a real Jaguar is a small cage at a zoo.

A friend has a '37 SS-100. Spent several years getting it restored. Its inaugural showing was at our local Brit Car Club a couple of years ago. Exhaust hit the pavement as it was backed off the trailer and broke the exhaust manifold ($$$$). Still took honors as best in show.

He drives it on occasion.
