Default Key fob quirk

I visited Mr. J. in storage yeaterday, and discovered that the key fob remote won't do anything except make the car 'chirp' once whenever I press any of the buttons. I take it that the fact the car responds to the fob means the (fob) battery is ok, and I have manually opened and re-closed all the doors, boot, bonnet, fuel-door, etc. No change, just a single 'chirp'. The battery has been on a Battery Tender all winter, and there has been no interruption of 12V power; should I try re-programming the fob? My handbook refers to a 'Security System Manual" in the Owner's Info Package, but I don't seem to have one.

Thanks

Try a hard reset first (remove the neg. battery cable from the battery and touch it to the positve for a few seconds).
