Letting Convertible Top Down In 30-40 Degree Weather Is This Safe ? Please Advise
I want to know if its safe to let the top down in 30-40 degree weather ? Someone told me that the manual doesnt advise in the temperatures the top can be lowered. Its cold here where I am at but the tempertures has being going up to 40-45 degrees and sometimes I like to drop the top but I didnt because I wasnt for sure if I can do it in these tempertures. I miss 50-60 degree weather I cant wait til summer.
We were out in about 36 degree (f) weather last month. Sunny skies, top down, heaters on as well as the heated seats and it was spectacular.
We were out yesterday in 50 degree (f) , (about 10 degree C here) and another great drive with the top down under sunny skies.
Cheers,
Mark

The way I see it is that Pentosin CHF11s will pour at -55c or -67f. I think it should not be a problem. http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairHydFluid.htm
I think the issue is that on a new car, the fabric is can be tighter when its cold. However, the fabric on our cars has been loosened up considerably and I dont think it should be a problem now.

Am I missing something here ? I checked the Jaguar manual and it states do not operate convertible top below 5 Degrees because it may damage the fabric. Where are you getting below 40 degrees ?
It is 33 deg. At my home right now and I would not have a problem operating the roof. Last xmas I opened the roof for my wife and I to see the festival of lights in our area. Did anyone tell me I could do this? No! I did it because I wanted to. Keep in mind that this car is not a fine piece of cut glass crystal it is a car.

What I meant was not necessarily limited to this specific post but generally many of the other posts as well. Sometimes it seems like a conversation with one of those "intelligent" machines where you can have a discourse with "someone" you think is a real person but the responses are merely generated by some computer at the other end. There are times where I think the op is just some spammer but other times the discourse seems almost legit.

I do this regularly, Put the heating on manual and maximum temp & blow then set it at your feet, you will be warm up to just about the top of your ears, I would advise putting the cover over the folded hood. If it aint rining get the top off, otherwise why do you have it?
