Low Oil Pressure Switch

Low Oil Pressure Switch
I have just finished installing Stave Klonsky's (Thejagwrangler) conversion kits for coolant temperature and oil pressure.
Everything went fine EXCEPT (always the case) I managed to break the low pressure sensor/switch trying to get it out. That was, for me, the hardest part of the project.
I have a new one on order, but until then, is there any way to bypass the low level alarm? I am guessing, because there is only one wire going to the sensor, that it is normally closed to ground, but I just want to verify that before I make a temporary connection.
Just one small change I made to the installation of these kits, and that was to stick a single strip of electrician's tape on the alarm (located on the new electronics board that came with the kit). This still allows the alarm to be still be heard, but with a less ear-splitting result.
Thanks Steve. A grand job you made of this.

I did the same thing on my install, although delayed by a few days.
You can press the end button on the turn signal stalk for about 2 seconds and it will silence the alarm. The red light will remain on. You will have to do this every time you restart however. Steve is always watching this forum, so may chime in with another fix soon.
The old oil switch is a piece of cake to install. It will take you longer to raise the car than to actually change the switch.

Malcolm, yes, you can temporaily ground the single wire at the oil pressure switch to suppress the alarm until your new switch arrives.
Alternatively, you can just suppress the alarm as Jag#4 describes by depressing and holding the stalk each time you start the car.
Also, remember the alarm is far less ear splitting with the wood panel in place and when you have road noise in the background.

In the meantime the upgraded oil pressure gauge will still function normally providing oil pressure monitoring.
