Question maintenance:can you help?

I had a gear box failure with a XJ8 2001, and I was happy enough to sell it and to buy a 2004 XK8 convertible.
To prevent what happened I wonder if there is a special care like changing the gearbox oil and if there is a filter inside the gearbox to change. The car has now 67,000 miles, all the jaguar stamps, but not the invoices/description of the work done.
And at how many miles the timing belt should be changed??
Many thanks

I think the recommendation thrown around for the ZF boxes is every 60k, but 30k is better for fluid changes. I don't know but I'm doing every 30k on my Mercedes unit in my XKR.

There is no timing belt on Jag V8s, they have timing chains, and 2003+ don't have the tensioner issues the previous cars do, so you don't really have to do anything.

You can have the gearbox oil changed and filter, costs about £250, there is no timing belt, these cars have chains and as you have a 2004 model I would not worry for quite a few more miles yet

Yes, you will be well advised to have the gearbox oil and filter changed to prolong the life of your unit.

Jaguar considers the unit sealed for life, but that is more a marketing ploy than reality.

There is no timing belt to change on these cars. They have timing chains that should not need attention on a 2004 model year.

Not as such, if you go to Jaguar they will just tell you it is sealed for life which is BS, take a look through the QandA section I am pretty sure there is a 'How To' detailing the gearbox oil change

I know there is a video showing replacement of the transmission pan and replacement of the fluid. I'm suffering from "CRS" (Can't Remember $hi^) at the moment but as soon as I
post this I'll remember
