mileage question
I saw a 2006 xk8 for sale with 90,000 miles which is a lot more than average miles for the year ( saw somewhere that average miles for that year was around 60,000 ?). it is 2 owner ( corporate and private ) with a clean carfax. I haven't seen the car in person, only photos.
just trying to get some input as to whether this is something to be avoided. when you consider that it has less than 10,000 miles a year to me that is not excessive but I am new to Jaguar so not really informed as to age vs. mileage.
also, does this year have issues with the tensioner? having had a 1988 Mercedes 560sl I'm familiar with the issue of the tensioner failure.
thanks

+1 on the tensioners - 2006MY has the latest steel type.
I never worry about mileage on a Jaguar provided it has proven regular maintenance. You'll find from forum postings that the weekend warriors have more issues than the daily drivers.
With any used Jaguar, check for complete history and question any gaps. Service schedule is every 12k Miles OR 12 Months (whichever comes sooner).
At ten years old, rubber components are going to be age worn. In addition to the suspension bushes already mentioned, cooling hoses will be due a replacement if this hasn't already been done.

Plenty of folks on the forum have well over 100k on their cars and are doing fine. My blue cat is a daily driver and is pushing 142k. It is by no means the highest mileage on the forum.
GGG is right, rubber and plastic stuff has aged. More plastic under the hood/bonnet than you'd expect. The rubber ages and the plastic gets brittle. Otherwise normal repairs and maintenance.
Good luck.

There are two equivalent warnings on later models:
1. ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT (red warning indicator)
2. RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE (amber or red warning indicator)
Both of these are accompanied by a loss of power.
I wouldn't describe FAIL SAFE MODE on the early models or the above on the later models as a regular issue in normal driving.
