Default Minor Issues.....

….but I like things to be in order and work.

The damage, need replacement part
…..But I have a need for things to work and look right. As you can see the trim on the lever that releases the driver's seat back to tilt forward has broken. I can not seem to find a replacement. A wrecking yard is glad to sell me an entire seat however. Anyone know a source for such a minor part? And it appears that once I hand it would be easy for me to install. the other issue is the "S" button on the center council …. The button will not lock in the down position anymore which indicates it is severely worn and needs replacement. Question: Where does one find that part and maybe a DYI guide for replacement. I am not a mechanic and I know a trip to him and I will begin payment of his daughter's sophomore year at the university. I believe I've paid a good share of the freshman year. I could just put a piece of black tape on it, but that's just not cool. Any help will be appreciated. The 1999 XK8 now has 109,400 miles, a but up from the 84,000 when I got it four years ago. Just a few days ago we completed our 1,200 mile trip from the Seattle area to Palm Springs. the car likes it here.

Default DCR is my go to guy for these parts

Try this source in the UK
https://www.xk8-parts.com/category/j...kr-seat-parts/

DCR seems to stock it. He’s my “Go to Guy” for weird bits that are NLA elsewhere. He’s 100percent reliable but slow on communication so don’t expect a fast turn about.

As for the centre console sports mode selector switch, DCR probably has that too. But it’s probably available at any scrap/junk yard. Have you checked that that the switch is seated right with clearance in the centre console? The plastic trim here is known to break and move about, obstructing the switch. Alot of people tend to swap it out for the chrome mod.

Agreed, DCR is great. The sport mode switch is fairly easy to find, on the range of XK8s and some XJ8s. If you have a junkyard around you with an XK8 or XJ8, they likely have it. Part number is LNC6220AA. Expensive new.

Currently comes for about $30 on ebay with the XJ8 bezel which you don't need.

Plastic seems to be fine.... its just the switch...you push it down and it won't catch. Its always been a bit "touchy" and after a few attempts would stay down. However now its not even trying. I"ll check around this area and see if any wrecking yards have XK8's...
thank you
