Default 2001 XK8 window switch button replacement

I'm new to the parts scavenging game, so forgive me if I'm asking something obvious. One of buttons on my driver's (LH drive) window switch assembly is broken and falls off (see photos). I've only found entire window switch assemblies online; is there a good way to simply find the button itself?

Thanks

johnny, why not try a little epoxy, like jb weld, to re-shape that broken side pin area. If you're careful putting it back on the switch...put that one on first, then stress the other side...you might be all set. I'm pretty sure the buttons are integral to the switchpack part. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and find a salvaged one. There's a guy (jason smith) on the classified area, parting out his XK8, and his prices are MUCH lower than salvage yards...send him a PM and ask him for a price. You'll be surprised.

I had the same problem on my new XKR.

The passenger button was completely missing. I bought a new switch on ebay, and popped the button off and snapped it into my switch to save removing the entire switch. Made a two hour job a 30 second job. Use a very small blade screw driver and pry carefully on the side, near where yours is broken, to pop the button out of the old switch.

I now see that my Drivers side also has a broken button, it is loose, but it is still there. The XK switches are relatively hard to find, but I think the buttons are the same on an XJ. They look the same, but I haven't tried one yet. There are more of them, and they are cheaper than XK parts on ebay. I don't think the switches will fit, but you might be able to use the botton.

Thanks for the good advice. I Found a used XJ switch, which will give me four spare buttons. Out of curiosity I'm going to try the epoxy trick to, shall tell you how that goes.

I just got myself an XJ switch from a rear door to try to use, and the button IS different. It looks the same from the top side, but the bottom that actually presses the switch is different.

Maybe it's a difference in year more than XJ Vs XK...

Edit;

On closer inspection, there looks like there are different types of switches that are very similar looking. Some seem to have a thin black frame around the actual button. The one that I got (and doesn't fit the XK) does not have this. See the attached picture of a button from a 1998 XJ. The one I got is close, but different, maybe it's from an S-type?

Also it appears that the 1998 - 2002-ish Mercury Cougar Mystique and Ford Contour has the same style buttons...
