Motor Mount Replace - Hydraulic vs. solid at 1/2 price
Hi, I now have the luck of having to replace my 1998's motor mounts. As I look into it I have found that the car came with hydraulic (leaks that "purple" fluid).
In pricing the repair I have found that
1) the Hydraulic mounts are allegedly only available through Jaguar at $140 each.
2) Jaguar discontinued making them about 6 months ago because of this leakage/failure issue, though they are widely available in stock.
3) You can get mounts that are non-hydraulic for 1/2 the price of the ones from Jaguar.
How much of a difference in "Jaguar Ride/Feel" will it make if I don't use Hydraulics? Does anyone have experience with this?
BTW I should acknowledge that Yes as I type this I realize the irony of putting the discontinued parts back in - surely they will fail someday too, but everything involves trade offs. I don't want to assume anything. Wanted to see what you guys think.
Has anyone seen the "hydraulic" mounts for less than $125 anywhere?
Thanks, I'll wait for your coaching before I line up the appointment.
John

I just looked again at Partsgeek's website - turns out the ones at parts geek are hydraulic, looks like I got bad info from the mechanic who shared this with me after I pointed out that Partsgeek sold mounts for 1/2 the price they could get from Jaguar.
The mechanic's advice put me in an uncomfortable position.
