Default Mystery Wire In 2002 XK8 Trunk

I was changing the battery in my 2002 XK8 and saw this green and white wire in a black cover loose.

It does appear it has been pulled off from somewhere but for the life of me I can not see where.

I assume it it was a dormant wire to end would not be bare.

Anyone?

Certainly, someone has been at it - no way it should be left like that. PO? Have you checked wiring diagrams for potential colour coded suspects around rear lights, park sensors etc? And is that the radio aerial laying in the well?

Regards,

+1 on reverse park sensors.
It's the only White/Green wire I can find in that area (power feed to the control module).

There's a multi-way connector somewhere up the RHS wheel arch that it may have escaped from, but it looks a tad short.

When Jaguars are shipped there is a battery isolater installed once it arrives at the dealer the isolater is remove and return to the factory. Leaving an empty plug.
You can also check it for 12 volts to ground. There is an extra plugs in the X308's boot for powering accessories but I am not sure there was ever one in the XK's

Ken the car is mint and not screwed around with. The black cable is the connection to battery tender that I use on cars that I do not drive a lot.

The wire is very thin so can not be for anything that draws reasonable power.

I am going to pull off the covers in that area and see what I can find. Everything seems to work OK and no error codes.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

As Avern1.
There's a "Transit Isolation Device" with a connector (BT49 1 way Lucar) - with a White/Green wire.
That's almost certainly it - probably just got pulled out of the connector when someone was checking the battery or similar.

The other end connects to the Body Processor Module so yes - either a bit of tape or a "blank" connector and you're good to go. No more sleepless nights. :-)
