Nasty sounds from 2005 XKR front end
Very loud metallic sounds (almost like the sound a dropping a wheel cap on concrete) have started to emanate from the front end of my XKR. It happened when my wife was driving but I also heard the sound. I tried to drive it slowly to identify it more precisely and I also heard a slight scrape from the front brakes - no evidence of scraping on the disks though. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be (stuck calliper (but both sides ???)/wheel bearing/other)?
The car has performed flawlessly to date and this is the first issue that has arisen but it is parked until I can figure out what is going wrong & get it fixed.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
David

Thanks for getting back to me: I'll try & be more specific.
It started after my wife had stopped the car for a few minutes. When she got back in and started to drive off she heard a loud racket coming from the front. She got the car back home (just round the corner) & parked it & when I got back in to town I went to check. It is a very strange sound: it started with a loud metallic sound like a hubcap falling & rolling on concrete and then a sound that I would have identified as a sticking brake calliper if it had not been coming from both sides of the car at the same time. I haven't seen any evidence of the `clunkity-clunkity' sound over small bumps - in fact the car has been silent and given no evidence of problems before. I don't believe it's engine related. Sorry I can't be more specific but when I heard the sound I immediately stopped the car to avoid potential damage so I didn't hear it for very long.
