Never a Dull Moment with an XK8
I had to take one of my cats to the vet for her rabies booster and its 22 miles each way mostly all highway. It was nice out so I put the top down (and the damn switch started to fall out again so have to deal with that also). Then I headed to the vet and as its mostly 65 I went to set the Cruise Control. The switch was lit so I turned it on and I hit the set button on the wheel. The light went out on the switch right away and no Cruise Control. The light never came back on. No codes or error messages. When I got back I checked the brake lights and they are both working fine. I checked the 10 amp fuse (#14) and it was good. No disconnected vacuum lines. So I contorted myself under the dash to examine the switch. Looks like nobody has ever been there before because the insulation pad with the slot for the brake pedal arm was in place and pristine and its impossible to remove it without it trying to fall apart. I undid its connector and cleaned it. Still no Cruise led. Even though the brake lights are working I'm guessing the problem is still gonna to be the switch. Not looking forward to getting it out of there and putting it back.
Otherwise the car is running great and rerouting the coil primary wires seems to have fixed the problem with 3 cylinders misfiring when its raining. Been through 4 rainstorms now with no reoccurrence.

Update:
Took it for another drive. When you turn on the Cruise Control the LED flashes twice then goes off and stays off. Anyone know what the 2 flashes indicate? (Besides saying its broken that is).

The Brake Switch has 2 sets of contacts.
The N.O. set activates the Brake Circuit.
The N.C. set is used to enable the Cruise Control.
The N.C. set can fail and you will still have Brake Lights, but no Cruise.

Thats what I figured as the switch has more than 2 wires coming from it. If I feel up to it I may try and remove it tomorrow or at least try and get some contact cleaner into it and see how long that lasts.
I was just wondering if the LED flashing 2 times had any significance. Funny it gives no errors or codes at all other than that.
