Default It works!

Had front struts and mounts replaced about 2 months ago on my 02 XK8 convertible. About a week later it developed a loud and annoying squeek that seemed to emanate from the dash behind the steering wheel. Didn't get around to looking in this forum until last week and I'm very glad I did. Applied some WD40 to the mounts and bolts and the squeek disappeared! Thanks to everyone for sharing. Hope I can return the favour some day.

Glad it helped. Please keep in mind that this isn't intended to be a permanent solution. It is meant to be a method to help troubleshoot the problem - to confirm where the noise is coming from. At some point you'll likely need to replace your upper strut mount.

Yeah, I agree, $2000 is a scam, my car needed shims but I got it done for $200 at a good alignment shop. :/ Hope there's an extra zero.

Let's just say that I haven't been back to the Jaguar dealer for a repair, since then. They're great for buying their parts on-line & picking them up. But forget it for repair work. $$$$$. That's why I love this forum so much. It keeps us going, as I love my 2006 XK8!

Default upper shock mounts

I replaced mine 2 years and about 10k miles ago... the passenger side is off center and chirping again... not sure if I got a bad one or they just wear out fast...
