No dreaded Convertible Green Shower for 11 years
No leaks at all. No stains on the liner. I clean the top regularly and water proof every 2 years with 303 protectant.
I don't think you can avoid the fold marks unless you never lower the top.Why have a convertible if you never lower the top.
What product do you use to ckean the top and what device to apply the ckeaning priduct?
I use 303 Tonneau Cover & Convertible Top spray on cleaner and work it with a soft brush.
Hi Folks
BLACCAT here. I have a low VIN # on my XK8 with its original top. The top is raised and lowered whenever needed, and I do not worry about the dreaded "green deluge"!
Having said that, my comfort level is about to be increased because while I am re-doing the upholstery (Tops Online. Thanks, Vic!), I decided to investigate an oil leak under the rear passenger seat (you know the one that you can't find a passenger small enough to fit into....) Sure enough, it was the upper line connection at the ram. It wasn't really a huge leak, which was only finally located when I noticed some discolouring of the seat belt as it wicked up the leaked fluid. The seat belt was removed and washed in the fully open position, using a mild laundry detergent solution, rinsed, then dried with a blower on gentle. Magic, no more oil. No stain.
The real reason for this post is to let you know about TOP HYDRAULICS, "www.tophydraulics.com".
These folks have a really impressive video of the re & re process for a newer model Jag, which walks you through the whole job. Am I ever glad I only have to deal with the six hoses for my XK8!!!
These folks offer a rebuild / exchange service, or will sell you just the lines, which have a 23,500 psi rating, and, in my opinion are far superior to the original and /or the later Jag versions.
I won't spoil your very pleasant surprise when you check out their pricing.
My package of six, made in the USA, new lines, complete with a neat little device for pulling each new line using the old one, arrived here in Ontario, Canada in just three days! How impressive is that? Check them out!
I have not posted very much in the past, but I will provide my comments on the installation as I proceed.
More later.
