Default No loaner car with Select Edition?

I stopped by the local Jaguar dealer (actually there is only one in the general area) to talk about bringing the car in for service. I need to do the emissions adjustment/recall (J004) and had also put together a list of other little ****ling problems to check. They confirmed the car would probably need to be there 1.5 to 2 days and I asked about getting a loaner since I had the Select Edition. The service writer informed me that they only provide loaners to cars that were originally purchased at that dealership.

I queried this saying I would call and ask Jaguar since my impression was that this was part of the SE coverage but he said every dealer has their own policy when it comes to loaners.

Have others experienced this? I guess it is not a big deal except that I will have to arrange rides for a day or so.

I can't speak for Jaguar policy but my first car had a world of service orders that included a loaner car under Select Edition and I know the owner did not buy the car at that dealer.

Push them for the loaner.

I bought a select edition vehicle off a chevy lot. Totally different dealership.
But the wrinkle was that my local jag dealer certified the car as a select edition.

Could be that is why I was given a loaner when the engine had to be replaced.

Go to the jaguar web site to review the specifics.

I called Jaguar customer service and, indeed, they confirmed that these days the situation regarding loaner cars has nothing to do with the warranty itself but, rather, is totally at the discretion of the dealer. In my case, this is a large dealer (Galpin) that services several makes of cars at this dealership (Jaguar, Lincoln, Volvo) so there is a shortage of loaner cars that are available. Because of this, preference goes to those customers that actually bought their cars from the dealership.

sorry doug, I had also heard it was dealer preference and have been lucky to have gotten so many loaners though mine was purchased at another dealer. The service writer may make that call, so maybe next time he'll remember you and take care of you.

Doug, these days like luggage on airplanes. Jaguar no longer provides Jag loaners(used too alot so many days) or other loaners. Our advisors get reprimanded constantly over loaner car days. They provide for factory warranty, when extended warranty companies pay for so many days, but how can you justify spending say $90 on loaner caar for a customer you made $20-40 or whatever dollars under that in profit. Its not good business sense and you have to tread lightly on customer satifaction and loyalty. Those have to be paid for and are in many cases, and people wonder why dealers are higher than a independant shop. That 004 recall is a 20 minute reflash once cool enough to reflashed the ECU. I would wait on it, and these other little items you speak of, are they concerns that a tech will make some money on, or just spend time on? The dealer Im sure wants you business and wants to keep it, they also want to keep the doors open and you cant do that is not profitable

Out of all the small problems the only real "concern" is the small leak (probably coolant). Also, the last time it was serviced for anything was just before I bought the car in August, 2008 (other than the convertible hose replacement they did a few months afterward). So I figured it would also be good to get an oil change. I always did this twice a year with my Corvette (which translated to about every 3,000 miles or less).

What can I say--the last several years I have been lucky enough to work 5 miles or less from my house (I know--I should be riding a bike to work). This is a real luxury in Los Angeles!
