No More Castrol GTX 5W-30 Conventional Oil....
Stopped by the local Walmart to pick up a 5-quart jug of Castrol GTX 5W-30 conventional oil over the weekend. It was nowhere to be found on their shelves and when I asked the guy in the Automotive department about it, he told me they can no longer get it. I drove home and sent an e-mail to Castrol tech support asking if it has been discontinued. Sure enough, Castrol's reply this morning states that it has indeed been discontinued. I see no reference to ANY conventional oil on their website....
Been running this oil in my wife's 2006 XK8 for more than ten years now. Guess I will switch to the Castrol 5W-30 synthetic blend at the next oil & filter change and hope no oil leaks show up anywhere as a result....

for what it’s worth, my 2002 XKR was switched to a full synthetic (Mobil1 0w-40) at 116,000 miles on the car / about 5 years ago, when I took possession of it.
Now at 179,000+ mileage. No evidence of leaks. According to previous owner, there had been some minor oil consumption, but none under my ownership.
if a preferred conventional oil is not available, might as well go to a reputable full synthetic. The synthetic blends are a poor value for consumers.
