I'm torn between attempting some kind of update or add-on to my SatNav to make it useful again, and replacing the screen with the triple gauge cluster. I believe I would rather have the cluster.

So I've ordered a single wood center panel from eBay that appears to be a decent match to my wood grain. If it looks good enough then I will definitly order a gauge cluster and harness. Thanks a lot for making these harnesses available.

Wow, did I get lucky! I found this center dash panel on eBay, and took a chance that it might match. It's about as perfect as I could expect- the color and burl pattern are nearly indistinguishable! The dash wont be sequenced matched any more, but it will hardly be noticeable. (This panel was actually listed as being for an XJ8, but I knew better by the looks of it- it was for an XK_).

I've placed my order on the gauge cluster, and will order one of those wiring harnesses shortly. I plan to have a local audio shop do the install for me, and I am going to keep all of the original nav equipment and panel.

So far the panel has cost me $60, the gauge cluster $50, and the harness is like $90. Maybe 2 hours of shop time and this will all total about $300.

Sweet! That is one of the best random matches that I have seen.

When you order the cable I'll throw in a couple of spare bulbs for your gauge cluster. They often go out on the used clusters from all the handllng.

Default Just ordered the harness and gauge cluster

I just ordered the refurbed gauge cluster and wiring harness from Steve, along with three small chrome instrument rings from Adamesh and a what looks like a really close match for my dash center veneer from eBay. Can't wait to get it all together and finally have the xkr I've dreamed of. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.

Best Regards, Fred

Default Here it is

Here's a pic of my completed install. Everything went perfect. Misc wood trim match looks really decent in person. Three gauge cluster ordered from JagWrangler is in perfect condition. A big thanks to Steve is sending the gauge cluster with the chrome needle heads that match my instruments. RealGauge with oil pressure is on order now.

I'm a happy camper.

Thanks for posting Fred...it looks great. Even though I run an upgraded nav. system and on screen electronic gauges in my own XKR, I always get a little jealous when I see the the 3-gauge upgrade...it is so much classier and more pleasing to look at.

I also run a upgraded navigation system but I have to admit this is one of the nicest 3 gauge cluster conversions I've seen.

Thanks Steve, I saw your electronic gauge setup and I have to say it looks pretty trick. My RealGauge arrived today, but I don't know when I'll find time to install it. Soon, I hope!

Best Regards, Fred

Thanks Mark. I'm really pleased. Once I get the RealGauge upgrade installed, it'll be time to move on to the center stack to install an iSimple interface for my iPod. It never ends (fortunately).

Best Regards, Fred

My biggest frustration is finding a center fascia that matches the RH & LH panels. Mine is beautifully dark & got one that was close but still far enough off to look obvious. The only full panels I see are so ugly, no wonder they were dumped. I look at some of the panels with big yellow swaths and wonder how they ever got past QC to begin with.

Be patient and keep a search running on ebay (click on 'follow this search' at the top of your search results page). A worthy example is bound to show up eventually.

What about replacing these guages with after market units like Stewart Warner? What is the guage size of the originals?
