"Octopus" Coolant Hose Replacement

"Octopus" Coolant Hose Replacement
Got this little task done yesterday.....I also removed the throttle body and gave it a good cleaning and also the area of the intake just below the throttle body as there was a good build-up from the EGR.
As this is on a 2006 the throttle body has two coolant lines running to it...had to use my Dremel tool to cut the band clamp on the hoses....had to do this on one of the hoses to the coolant tank as well.
Took me probably four to five hours to do the entire job including cleaning-up all the coolant off the floor that did not go into the pans I had under the car.
Trouble spots were getting the new hose assembly into place and one of the NORMA connectors to mate....required pressing the two ends together in order to compress the O ring and of course very little room to do this in.
All-in-all...the task is not too bad....have done easier, have done more difficult. Cost savings....well local Jag dealership wanted $315 for the hose assembly, probably another $40 for coolant, $20 for hose clamps; I estimate $300 labor. I spent $180 on the hose assembly and $15 on coolant, $1.50 for hose clamps.
Jag dealership: $675.......ME: $196.50....pretty good savings here!
I do however hope I never have to do that task again though.

Yea this job SUCKED ***! Not hard really, just hard on the hands (scrapes) and just dealing with everything back there in the hoses way.
Make sure you check your coolant level after a few drives, you may have to top off the resivior a few times once it has bleed some. The level should be right at the bottom of the opening of the tank.

Answer to a few questions:
Mileage: 55589
Part Number: MJA6728AC.....Motorcarsltd.com had the best price when I was looking.
Will also need 5/8 - 7/8 hose clamps if your year has the coolant lines to the throttle body and I took the rear hose off of the coolant reservoir so I could swing it out the way. Got these at Home Depot....bog of 10 was $5.58. Lastly I used some spray silicon on the hose ends and O rings so they slide onto the fittings much easier.
And will need to replace whatever type of coolant used in your year.
brgjag: the valley hoses...yeah I looked at them....and YEAH alot more involved to replace. Can these be replaced without removing the runners?

The valley hoses aren't too bad. You do have to remove the intake manifold, but this is actually quite a lot easier than on a SBF, for example. The one odd part is you have to leave the elbow to the TB connected when you remove it. Be sure to get the 8 new gaskets. My car runs better since this work, and I suspect it has to do with some leakage around the old gaskets.
As has been noted elsewhere the connectors then to leak while the hose is still good. Both my Norma connectors leaked, but the octopus hose itself was ok. So I replaced the o-ring on the driver's side for 75 cents and the entire connector on the passenger side for $4.22.
