Unhappy Over Charging

Hope someone may be able to give me some advise, Removed the battery when I replaced the heater hose the battery was off for around 3 weeks when I now start the car up it reads gearbox fault and the dash lights brighten and dim, also the charge meter when slightly revved goes off the clock, I have checked all the connections and all seem to be fine I also left the battery disconnected overnight had the codes cleared but the problem is still there.

By charge meter, I assume you mean voltmeter. The truth is it is not really a voltmeter that will work properly if the battery is very weak, because it depends on proper operation of some of the computers in the car.

Sort of defeats the purpose, I know.

Anyway, it sounds to me like your battery is close to dead. Either charge it or replace it.

Then it may be the voltage regulator as mentioned in your other thread. It would be good to put a real multimeter across the battery and read the voltage with the car running to confirm the diagnosis. It should not be over 14.7 volts.
