Default Overheating?

Hello, just noticed that there is a red light illuminated on the water temperature gauge right at the top end of the temp scale, not the red light above the scale. The pointer is still rock solid in the middle of the gague, not noticed this before, is this usual or a problem? There are no other symptoms, no noises or loss of water, not strange smells etc. Just need to know if this is a warning or danger indication light not picked up by the gauge pointer. Any help greatly appreciated.

That's part of the illumination. Try with the engine off and ignition on, should be same light.

Thanks for the quick reply, this was in daylight, but I had the lights on auto. Ill check tomorrow with lights off in case that was a factor. Fingers crossed that its just normal operating conditions.

Thanks again RJ237, panic over I realized the lights came on when the car was started but just had not noticed the red light on the gauge. Good news then
