Just about everything; of course if we knew what type and year of car you had, we could point you to the correct owner's manual to download as the park brake is only one of the different ways Jaguars operate.
To be more precise, pull handle with button depressed up until you clear the lock point, lower handle. To set, you only need pull up and let drop back down.

There are six 'Permalinks' on the main post page, they are proceeded by the tag 'STICKY' the fifth link down, titled XK8 & XKR 'HOW TO'/DIY REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE LINKS/FACTS AND DATA. This link will provide numerous links to download Owner's Manuals for your specific Model and Year of Vehicle as there were changes from year to year. You can also access the User Control Panel or USERCP at the top of the page to create a signature with your vehicle details included.
The Parking Brake is not the only equipment in the vehicle to operate differently. Buttons for Traction Control and Sport Mode are OFF when depressed and ON when not depressed. A light on a button does not always mean that function is operational, on the Traction Control button, if it is lit, it is OFF.
