Default Parrot ck3100 - any good?

I've got one of these for connection to my XKR. I also have the telephone cradle and phone (so, potentially, all the other phone bits) - which I rather like, and I know that the sound quality of the Jaguar phone is good, as I had it in my previous car. So here are the questions:
  1. How good is the quality of the Parrot in the X100, and should I get it going?
  2. Does the Parrot have any negative features, in your view, of which I should be aware?
  3. If you have experience of both, which of these two - the Jaguar of Parrot - wins on sound quality or indeed on usability?
Any thoughts?

I can't speak for the CK3100 but have had the MKI9200 in a couple of cars. The functionality and sound quality was superb - although I hardwired them directly into the cars, either into the existing AUX connectors (Audi TT) or bypassing the OEM CD changer (XK8), I didn't use an interface harness or anything. Brilliant little device, especially when hooked up to a 32gb card fill of music.

I "upgraded" to the Parrot Asteroid Mini in the XK8, but it isn't reliable - crashes once in a while (whereas the MKI9200 is solid), and you have to go through many hoops to get the apps to work - and then they're not great anyway without a touchscreen. I guess the only benefit of the Asteroid Mini over the MKI is that the Asteroid has a slightly larger screen. But I prefer the MKI unit much more, it wasn't a good move to get rid of it.

I installed a Parott CK3100 in my 2001 XK8 Coupe. Both my later Jaguars have had Jaguar Bluetooth so I haven't needed it again.

The CK3100 was of similar sound quality to the OE Bluetooth for both incoming and outgoing calls. Pairing was easier than on the Jaguar Bluetooth in my 2005 XK8 but the CK 3100 is nowhere near as good as my current XK where I can pair multiple phones and the vehicle automatically connects to whichever one I'm carrying at the time.

Thanks, Graham and franksm. This sounds (no pun intended!) worth going for. Did you mount the microphone at the top of the windscreen pillar, which seems to be the standard way, or somewhere else?

I don't have a Parrot, but a JVC headunit. Anyway, I put my microphone in the overhead console, I believe where Jag put theirs (under the mesh)

If you plan to use the phone with the top down, the dual mic. noise cancellation of the Parrot Mki9xxx series is a definite advantage over the CK3100.

I started with it next to the Jaguar microphone but after some experiment, I finally fitted it on the A Pillar near the top. This location gave the best sound quality.

The MKI is 21st Century compared to the CK.

I have my mic stuck to the instrument pod at the bottom of the speedometer. It works just fine there in my coupe.
