Wink Part?

Regarding a 2002 XK8, 4.0 engine base model:

How do you determine/test a spark plug coil pack and know it needs to be replaced?
What front/rear rotor brake discs and pads "kit" should be considered for replacement? Ceramic pads?
How often should the upstream and down stream oxygen sensors be replaced?

Thanks,

ER

O'Reilly auto part stores have a instore coil tester ( Innova 4400 ) . Not all stores have the machine so you would have to call first , And you may have to run it yourself as not all knows how to run it .

Coil pack. If you have a check engine light and a code for a misfire on a particular the fastest way to eliminate the coil is to swap it with the coil from another cylinder and see if the misfire moves. If the misfire doesn't show up on another cylinder then it could be the spark plug or wiring. Testing coils as I understand them requires an oscilloscope and a few other fancy electronics test tools.
If there is no misfire codes set on the OBD then the coils should be fine.
For brakes I use the original OEM parts. You can price them out at Jagbits, SNGBarratt a couple of the forum sponsors.
O2 sensors will also throw a check engine light and set a code for them having a problem. They are not a normally replaced maintenance item.
If you don't already have one, you need to purchase a OBD Code Scanner. You can always get the codes read for free at most auto part stores. The electronics in the Jaguar are very good at communicating what is wrong with the vehicle. Reading the codes and posting the nubers is always the first step in diagnosing any problems.
