If I use 2005 or 05 or 5 or 0V or V for the model year, following it with X104 would be redundant.

I think the determining factor was how profound changes were from a model year to the next rather than build year. The '97-2002 XK are all designated as X100. The '03-'04 were X103 and the 2005/6 were X104. The '03 got the 4.2L engine, new tail lamps, and minor interior changes such as the chrome around the gauge pods. The 2005 received a front facia revision.

Being that the largest change was between the 2002 and 2003 XK8 is makes sense that the internal model code changed but three digits. Since the 2005 received merely a restyled front bumper and grill it went up by just one digit.

I am wondering if the 1996 XJ12 was an X305 or X330 since it was LWB. Probably the former by virtue of engine.

Considering that cars sold as 2006 are also X104 I can't follow your logic?

If I identify the year as 2005, then the only model code has to be X104. Why state the obvious?

My thinking was to have a more unique plate that was not easily interpreted by the uninformed viewer.

Sure you can just include the year but anybody can get that. If you find somebody that gets the X104 then you have found a true Jaguar enthusiast.

As far as redundancy goes, why put "JAG" in it at all?

I am leaning toward these which are all a combination of 7 letters and numbers or 7 letters.

2005XK8 - People are not going to know the year and most people are not going to know the model.

2K5X104 - Year and model code

5XKX104 - Year, model and model code

XK8X104 - Model and model code

JAGX104 - Make and model code

VXKX104 - Year, model and model code

05JAGXK - Year, make and model

KOWBOIZ - I already have OES YOO and OES YOU on two other of my cars. Again oSu phonetically.

I have an 02 XRK with plates that say 1SEXYKR
The KR could be read as car since it is one sexy car, or to the enthusiast, one sexy (X)KR

Why would you want them to know the year? X100/103/104 can pass for much newer cars. The model is on the rear of the car. The point is avoiding redundancy.

I would avoid using XK without the 8 lest you offend a true XK owner.

The phonetic ones are quite a stretch. I came up with "owes you" on first read. Perhaps when said with an Oklahoma accent it works better.

If you go with KOWBOIZ then you'll have to get the obligatory 22" rims.

How about this one for a really cryptic challenge: 208520 because 2005 X 104 = 208520

Or perhaps NOTMYXJ since you have both.

OK, I struck the ones with just "XK."

Phonecticly:

"O" is O
"S" is ES
"U" is YOO

Yeah I get that now. I think it is the grouping of the letters that makes it not obvious.

I actually had a similar thread a few months ago. And yes it was for my 03 XKR but I posted it in the wrong section. Nobody ever moved it, so it stayed in the x150 section. Maybe it will give you some more ideas.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ew-xkr-215761/

I eventually went with the britishism "T ANY1", but after I submitted it, I realized "Tea 4 2" would have had an even better double meaning.

JAGUAR is not available in Oklahoma, but JAGWAR is.

I'll check tomorrow to see if LEAPER and POUNCE are available.

LEAPER for my 2005 Jaguar XK8 Converible, Black/Black/Black

POUNCE for my 2007 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas, Porcelain (White) / Ivory Moca)

I've always liked to poke fun at my cars that strike some as pretentious. My Porsche carried a 'PORCH' vanity plate and I'm checking on the availability of 'JAGWIRE' now.

Il like LEEPER very much, since LEAPER is taken in Oklahoma.

POUNS would go well the phonetic LEEPER too.
