Hey all,

I know that there are a good few posts about this but haven't found one that quite matches the cars symptoms.

Today my dads 96 XK8 started to falter under acceleration and the above warning has appeared on te dash. For a long time I've had "stability control failure" and "traction control failure" on the dash nearly all the time.

The car stuttered that time but since I've driven it and got no warning and no symptoms, and another time I've got the warning but no symptoms.

Today I went to a different petrol station to where I normally go, so I'm thinking I could have low quality/octane fuel.

I'm going to try to get the ODB-II codes, but is there anything else I can check in the mean time?

Also, when the warning ones on it's immediately after the system check, not while I'm driving.

Also, the problem first arose only about 4 miles after putting the new fuel in.

I'm familiar with the amber 'Failsafe Engine Mode' and the red 'Restricted Performance' messages but not 'Poor Vehicle Performance' message ...........

Having the codes read is the clue to troubleshooting this issue. When you get them, post the actual codes here and not just the descriptions for the best advice.
