I have a friend that does metal fabrication, primarily for hot rods, that has lots of experience in aluminum. Time to give him a call and discuss possibilities and feasibility. However, we all know the math formula. High labor and design time added to low volumes equals high cost.

I saw a BMW with aluminum wrap on the wood. Looked exactly like brushed aluminum. I was impressed.

For those interested, Nigel Thorley's book on the XK8 has some pictures and discussion of both the F-Type concept (XJ41) as well as the XK180 developed by the Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations group.

Looks like there is a body kit for these as well that can be used on different Jaguar models.

Interesting. As kits go, it doesn't seem as crazy a price as you might expect. The kit, plus a decent XJS donor car plus the fabrication and labor and you are probably in for similar money to a kit cobra. Certainly more unique than a cobra.
