Default Primary Tensioners

Just stripping the chains out of my XK8 for a Chain, Guides and Tensioner upgrade and found the old primary tensioners were rock solid is this normal.

The tensioners are hydraulic, so if they are working right, there should be very little springiness.

These are solid put them in the vice and nothing solid as rock but i did notice that the one guide and chain were very loose.

Please take pictures of all parts.

I would replace anything that even looked like trouble later why you have everything apart and focus on the tranny drain and fill next, and rear diff flush-a shop can suck the old stuff out cheap.

Also, I do think the tensioners have BEEN UPDATED.

Stripped down due to rattle on right hand bank, looking at the bolts etc as they came off the front has been off before but at best the replacements are 2nd generation tensioners even though the primary tensioner has a 96 stamped on, i have the new 4th generation kit with uprated guides also looking to change water pump and stat at same time. Once engine running rattle free with then be looking to a power flush of auto box and filter change.

Much debate over the safety of a powerflush on an older auto box. Might be better to do a few partial changes, along with a filter change. Going whole hog,you could look into valve body or pressure valve replacement and hopefully hold off the A drum failure. Nice of me to spend your money, huh?

I over the year years use my own power wash what I do is insert pipes at the inter cooler so I have have in out then use a pump attached to a drill out into a bottle out back into box this wat converter get washed as well no real pressure works
