Living in a gated community in Myrtle Beach, SC programming the gate opener to my 04 Jag XK8 was easy. Hold the 2 outer buttons in for @ 30 seconds until they cleared (jag manual) then push the gate opener button and whichever of the 3 buttons you want to use for this option at the same time, when the light starts flashing you're done. The garage door opener wouldn't take from the remote but if you push the learn button in on the back of the unit (you have @ 30 seconds for programming your jag remote) and have someone hold the the button on the jag it takes in seconds. CAUTION (don't hold the learn button in or it'll erase all the programming). The garage door opener will click when the signal takes on the jag. The garage door opener was a Chamberlain Liftmaster. Its amazing when you actually read the directions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
