Smile Question about wifes

Of all the pictures I have seen only one XK8/XKR had the leaper installed on the hood and that car belonged to a lady. My wife keeps bringing up the idea that she wants a leaper, she calls it a kitty, on the hood of our XK8 like I have on my X300. I tell her that it would spoil the lines of the car and wouldn't look good. But she brought it up again the other day after she drove the X300. Is there something about ladies that they like the hood kitty?

My wife loves the leaper, too. But there's no way one is getting installed on my Coupe. I think they look awful on the XK8 / R, like a wart on an otherwise fine nose.

On the sedans, sure. A larger, four-door car can somehow carry a hood ornament appropriately...two door grand tourers or sports cars, no.

Regardless of your descision, it's nice that she has shown an interest in your car.

Wow - and I thought there was serious disagreement over engine oil!

Opinions on leaper fitting raises the bar to something nearer a declaration of war.

Mrs. WhiteXKR has told me countless times that the convertible is missing a leaper. Thank goodness she has her S-type!

My wife likes her XK8's nose badge and does not want a leaper on it, period....

Here's a link where someone put a "custom" leaper on his hood. This should give her an idea of how it looks. Not very good IMHO, but to each his/her own.

I must agree with the majority , no leaper under any circumstances on an XK8/R ,

Well, she has a point .. it's her car. To be fair, you probably have total say over the X300, so you might just have to swallow hard and get with the program.

Maybe our new resident photoshop expert Cybersylph(?) can do a mockup for her to see. Probably won't make any difference though.

Just think ahead though. If you buy it at the right time, that's one anniversary gift taken care of. And you know she won't be returning it.

Leapers don't belong on XK8s! It's called "gilding the lily"...
