Question on Low-End Torque
I've had my 2000 XK8 since last July and have a question about low-end torque. Up to about 2,500 RPM, the engine seems to be bog down a bit. After that it pulls quite strongly (Sport mode seems to improve this somewhat). I know that 4 valve/cylinder engines tend to produce peak torque at higher RPM's than 2 valve engines, but I would think that the VVT system would tend to broaden the torque curve. The engine runs well in every other respect, and I've already taken the slack out of the throttle cable.
What, if anything, should I be looking to check?

Although it may be a tad subjective, I've noticed the torque curve for the 244 inch engine is a bit anemic below 2500 rpm and there is the matter of getting 4000+ pounds moving. RPM's were the only I've found to really help.
It's the same for my '99 4.0. Below 2500+/- it's a tad boggy, but once above that range it forces you into the seat and takes off like a friggen bullet.
I just assumed that's how the kitties behave...
