Can you comment on the radio station reception range? My wife can still pick up a couple of her preferred local FM stations nearly 100 miles away from home using her admittedly ugly factory antenna. I doubt if an aftermarket antenna module sitting inside the trunk could do that. Let us know, please....

I bought that same unit and it's crap IMHO. Hardly picks up anything.

Jon,

Only testing will tell if a particular replacement antenna will be adequate for the stations you want.

But in general it's as you said ... a module in the trunk will not pull in everything that the standard, ugly pole is able to receive. "There's no substitute for aperture" ... the size of the target that an antenna presents to incoming signals.

Dennis,

Thanks for the confirmation. Although the mast antenna is indeed an albatross, I'm not willing to risk trying this module. My wife would much rather be able to get her chosen FM stations and put up with the 1970s antenna technology in the process....
