Default R&R Rear Center Reverse Park Sensor help

Need to replace the Right Rear Center (straight) sensor. Watched U-Tube video and appears simple enough. Reached in from the area between cover and rear body pnl. and pushed the sensor rearward thru hole in Re-Bar and held in position . Tried to push the outer housing inward toward cover to unlock and twist loose (CCW). Small hand and short fingers make it painful to hold the sensor tight pushing toward rear and trying to loosen the outer hsg. Any suggestions how to successfully complete this task and install the new sensor?

Been there and done that. It's a real PITA. Access is a bitch and the spring loaded locking collar gets gummed up over the years. Small hand good - short fingers bad for this job. Somehow, you need to hold the sensor still while pushing in and rotating the spring loaded collar.
I just persevered and eventually I got the darn locking collar loose. Fitting the replacement was easier than removing the dud.

Good luck

Thanks for 1 reply. Hoped to get additional tips or "how to's" on this chore. Tried diligently and no success getting the outside cover loose from the barrel. Any other ideas on turning the outside hull loose from the inner barrel?

Well, just completed the replacement of the center sensor, for us it was easier to remove the rear cover and work on a bench. Tools needed were 19mm flex wrench (2 Bolts)and 13mm socket (2 nuts). The ratchet is used to remove 2 nuts from mounting studs and brkts at front.. Two (2) 19mm bolts (located above the tailpipes) hold the complete re-bar and cover on. The wire harness unplugs from the right side inside the trunk floor below the right tail light and CD changer mount. Once this is done, just pull the cover- re-bar back and off. Easier than poking around the hole in re-bar while unable to see. Hope this assists others that need to do this job. A lift is definitely an asset.
