Stu, I sure thought I'd seen mirrors with a compass in them in an X100.
Just checking, if I remember correctly and at some point one could order a rear view mirror with a compass display, were you answering exactly what was asked = nope not on 2000.
Or were you saying no, they were never available with a compass display in X100?
I don't think compasses were an option in 2000, but they were from 2002 on.
When I looked into this when my interior mirror started failing, it looked like the later mirrors (with compasses) were compatible with the earlier cars (same wire colours etc), but I couldn't find out if they were a physical match and therefore an easy swap.
I never got round to buying a second hand compass mirror to try it out, but in theory if you can make it fit, it should work. That was for my 2001 XKR with autodim mirrors and rain sensor - you should check your own model year wiring diagram.

From what I've seen on the boards, the physical mount is different - and the connector is DEFINITELY different - the later one has a connector . Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for that - that is helpful. I'm still undecided about how to fix my mirror, it still dims, but not as much as it should. So far it hasn't been enough of an issue to warrant the effort involved in changing it (and risking cracking the screen when removing the mirror).
